Feng shui (fengshui), pronounced in English as [fʊŋ'ʃweɪ] (”fung shway”) or [fɛŋ'ʃuːi] (”feng shoo-ee”), is the ancient Chinese practice of placement and arrangement of space to achieve harmony with the environment. Feng shui literally translates as “wind-water.” This is a cultural shorthand taken from the following passage of the Zhangshu (Book of Burial) by Guo Pu of the Jin Dynasty:^[1]

I’ve met quite a number of people who are frantic believers in fengshui and surprisingly, are all of quite high positions in their respective companies.

After reading about Zeus and his new obsession with fengshui, I went to read up a little on it to try and fathom why these people are throwing in money to buy those paintings and plants to 布阵 ( set up formations ) in their offices. I mean, it quite hard to believe that by arranging some furniture and throwing in a few potted plants and paintings, business will start to thrive. If that’s the case, no need to work liao what! No!?!?!

After a good few minutes frowning in front of the computer, I found myself lost within the terminology.

My feeble attempt to try understanding the subject proved to be futile. -_-”
